Tokyo at last...

So I am here, in the capital of Japan. I have rented a very expensive condo in the Shoto district of Tokyo. It is fabulous. Lush. Super expensive. But money is no object on this year's trip around the globe!

The Shoto Grand Hills is close to some super nice museums, shops and restaurants. So I took the train and went to Bunkamara.
It was amazing! The architecture here is uber modern and not very "Japanese" but it is definitely a cultural center. This building houses an art gallery, art museum, cinema, a modern movie experience theater (you have to see it to believe it: nice seats, food and drinks served to you and a movie presented in parts!), French and Italian restaurants, book store, French owned flower shop and an Austrian jewelry store. Fabulous!

This is the uber modern movie theater. It was super cool! I watched some show about Utopia. It was about salvaging treasure under the sea. It looked great on the huge screen in this theater.

From there I took the train to nearby Daikanyama district.

Daikanyama (代官山) is one of the districts of Tokyo, Japan’s Shibuya ward. Known as a hot spot of shopping for locals, Daikanyama is home to a wide variety of fashionable boutique shops and sidewalk restaurants and cafes. Multiple courtyards are located between restaurants and homes and the low rise buildings give the neighborhood a more subdued classic style than the hyper-modern high rises of Tokyo’s other shopping districts (one of which I had just come from).

Some of the shops in this area include Jean Paul Gaultier, Paul Smith, Vivienne Tam, and Martin Margiela hold court in Daikanyama alongside local designer shops converted out of old homes and vintage clothing shops spilling out onto the sidewalks. Main streets with well known names such as Kyu Yamate Dori and Hachiman Dori are well traveled but side streets and alleys often have just as many if not more shops of their own.

Some of the more trendy shops.

Ok. Folks I need help deciding where to go to next. I will give you two options and you pick which one you think sounds best and why. You see I am not a decision maker so I need you to really sway me one way or another.
Your choices are... Ueno Park

  2. What kind of a question is this? Tokyo Dome City! Besides having more to do, this city has a massive hotel towering 155 meters above the city! it has over one thousand guest rooms, and seven restaurants and lounges! Plus it has an amazing view of the Imperial Palace, Mount Fuji, and Tokyo Bay. Joe, you could practically just stay there.

But, you also have to visit Tokyo Dome to see the Yomiuri Giants!

Not to mention the amusement park, featuring the Tower Hacker, an 80 meter drop of pure terror.

Go to Tokyo Dome City next!

  11. All those places look really neat. I think you should go to Tokyo Dome City, but only if you like amusement parks. That would be the reason I went there, and for the shopping. Sounds like it would be a blast. And after you had a fun day of riding rides of shopping you could go to the spa and relax! :)

  12. Tokyo looks like a very nice city. If I ever got the chance to go there, I would. I think you should go to Ueno Park because it has a rich historical background. It also has some pretty nice views, especially in the spring when the cherry blossoms come out.

  13. I would Choose Tokyo Dome City.

Tokyo Dome is Japan's first domed stadium, opened on the March 17,1988.Baseball games and various other eventsare held at the dome throughout the year.

Tokyo Dome is the franchise stadium for the Yomiuri Giants, hosting More than 60 games yearly. It is also one of the leading stadiums in the world, having hosted Japanese-American baseball games, and the first MLB opening match held outside America (Mets vs Cubs) in the year 2000.

    Theres Also Amusement Parks!!

The park is equipped with many attractions providing for fun and entertainment in the middle of the big city.

    The Main Attractions include:

    Linear Gale: 800 yen
    The world's first hanging-type linear roller-coaster

    Skyflower: 600 yen
A parachute-type attraction going up and down from a height of 61 meters to the ground,
commanding a magnificent viewof city streets and buildings.

More Attraction include the Baseball Hall of Fame && lots of Restaurants and Shopping Centers!!

  14. Okay. I'm definetly going to have to agree with pretty much everyone else. Tokyo Dome City owns compared to Ueno Park. What with all the amusement parks, restaurants, shopping, lounges. Ueno Park looks uber BORING compared to Tokyo Dome City. So if it's not obvious already, i think you should go to Tokyo Dome City next! :)

There are plenty of things to do there like go to the local shopping centers, eat there incredible food, go to an amusement park where you can have tons of food. For the most part you can learn so much from being there not only about the people but there culture!

Im very jealous that I am not there with you, but next time I would love to join along! :)
